Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has purchased a piece of land in Alibaug, a beach town near Mumbai, to build a luxurious villa. The land, bought for over Rs 10 crore from The House of Abhinandan Lodha, spans a quarter of an acre and was officially registered last week.
This isn’t Bachchan’s first real estate investment. In January, he acquired another plot near the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The Bachchan family already owns several properties in Mumbai, including bungalows named Jalsa, Prateeksha, and Janak in the upscale Juhu area. Recently, they gifted their lavish bungalow Prateeksha to their daughter Shweta Nanda.
Bachchan isn’t alone in his real estate ventures. Many high-profile individuals, including Bollywood stars, are investing in properties for both personal use and as lucrative investments. Alibaug, known for its sea view properties, has become a hotspot for celebrities and wealthy individuals. Actress Suhana Khan, daughter of Shahrukh Khan, recently acquired a property there, as did actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
The government’s efforts to improve connectivity between Mumbai and Alibaug are further boosting real estate development in the area. Infrastructure projects like the Virar-Alibaug corridor and the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link are expected to reduce travel time and attract more investors.
India’s luxury real estate sector is thriving, driven by the increasing number of high net worth individuals and NRIs looking to invest in high-end properties. With the demand for luxury properties on the rise, Alibaug’s allure as a prime investment destination continues to grow.
