The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) announced plans to acquire 3,690 hectares of land from villages in Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr districts to develop three critical infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity around the Noida International Airport in Jewar.

As reported by the Hindustan Times, these projects, designed to support the growing airport and surrounding industrial sectors, include a dedicated freight corridor, a commuter road, and new industrial sectors, officials said Tuesday.

One of the key developments is a 16-kilometer dedicated freight corridor that will link the Noida International Airport to Chola railway station in Bulandshahr. This corridor will facilitate the transport of goods, essential for the logistics sector’s growth.

Alongside the freight corridor, a parallel commuter road will run along the left side of the new industrial sectors, improving road connectivity for passengers traveling to and from the airport.

Both the freight corridor and the commuter road will be 100 meters wide and will feature four to six lanes, significantly improving the flow of traffic between the airport and nearby regions, officials said. These projects aim to boost the airport’s role as a major logistics hub, connecting it with key industrial sectors.

YEIDA’s plan involves the development of 13 new industrial sectors, mainly dedicated to warehousing and logistics. The land for these sectors will be acquired from both Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr districts. This initiative is part of the larger vision laid out in YEIDA’s Master Plan 2041, which has accelerated the land acquisition process, ensuring the timely development of the necessary infrastructure.

The Master Plan 2041 also includes incorporating 55 villages in Bulandshahr into YEIDA’s jurisdiction, extending the authority’s reach to the Delhi-Howrah railway route. These villages will be developed as part of the industrial expansion, improving the overall connectivity of the region.

To further boost connectivity, a new railway line will connect Noida International Airport with the Howrah-New Delhi main line near Chola station and the Chennai/Mumbai-Delhi main line near Rundhi station. This will facilitate the movement of trains in both directions, enhancing both passenger and cargo transport to and from the airport.

This project is expected to streamline transportation between Jewar and other key regions, particularly improving the connectivity between Bulandshahr and nearby districts, officials said.

The infrastructure developments will also benefit the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), also known as New Noida, which is set to receive significant advantages from the improved rail and road links. “The nearby cities will also benefit from connectivity to the airport and the proposed international film city,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of YEIDA. These projects are expected to attract more investment to the area, further supporting regional growth.

In addition to the freight corridor and road networks, YEIDA has also committed to upgrading Chola railway station into a model hub. The authority itself will finance the redevelopment of the station, with a proposal already submitted to the Ministry of Railways. The revamped station will serve as a crucial link between the airport and key national railway routes, enabling more efficient handling of both freight and passengers.

YEIDA’s land acquisition and infrastructure development plans are set to transform the region around Noida International Airport into a significant logistics and industrial hub. With the creation of dedicated freight corridors, commuter roads, and enhanced rail connectivity, the region is poised for substantial economic growth, benefiting both local industries and residents. These projects, fast-tracked under the Master Plan 2041, will establish Noida and surrounding areas as pivotal nodes in India’s transportation network.
