The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct a ₹270 crore cloverleaf interchange to connect the Yamuna Expressway with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), following formal approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The project, initially assigned to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida), was later handed over to NHAI after Yeida requested the highway authority to take charge. Yeida also sought and secured the required approvals from the state government.
“This important project had seen delays—first due to land acquisition and then contractor selection. With the cabinet’s clearance, NHAI will now fund ₹270 crore and execute the interchange construction,” said Arun Vir Singh, CEO of Yeida.
To be developed on 57 hectares, the cloverleaf loop interchange will offer a seamless connection between the two high-speed corridors. The infrastructure is expected to significantly ease the commute for thousands of motorists using the 165-kilometer Yamuna Expressway and the EPE.
Crucially, the project will provide direct and faster connectivity from the upcoming Noida International Greenfield Airport in Jewar to the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) via the EPE. In its current state, commuters from Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi face heavy congestion as they are forced to pass through densely populated villages such as Kasna and Ghangola to reach the EPE.
Of the total land required, Yeida has provided 22 hectares, while the remaining land has been acquired from Jaypee Infratech Limited (JIL), officials confirmed.
The location of the planned loop is near Noida International University and the Galgotias University campus, where the EPE currently crosses above the Yamuna Expressway. While NHAI will finance and build the main interchange, Yeida will be responsible for constructing the entry and exit ramps that will facilitate the connection between the two expressways.
Once completed, the interchange is expected to deliver a smoother and more efficient travel experience for thousands of daily commuters, reducing travel times and bypassing traffic bottlenecks.
