Land records in Noida are set become more transparent as Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order directing the Gautam Budh Nagar administration to digitize all land documents going back to 2002.
Officials have stated that the move is intended to ensure efficiency and openness because searching through old papers takes a long time, stated recent reports.
Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Kanchan Verma has ordered the district administration to meet with the sub-registrars and develop a strategy soon for the “smooth, safe, and time- bound” scanning and digitization of more than 13 lakh land records.
About 13,08,449 land record files in Gautam Budh Nagar require digitization, stated reports, adding that the government has authorised the use of 51 computers, 17 scanners, and other tools for this project.
The whole process is expected to happen in front of CCTV cameras. The staff will have to adhere to deadlines to digitize a certain number of files and records daily.
The news comes amid huge pile of land conflict cases in the city. It is reported that about two-thirds of district’s ongoing court actions are linked to land conflicts.
Meanwhile, builders in Noida and Greater Noida got a major setback when Supreme Court on Tuesday (28) dismissed the intervention applications (IAs) against its November 7 order, where the court had recalled its 2020 order, capping the interest rate at 8 per cent for delay in payment of land cost by builders to the authorities.
“The IAs were filed by various group of companies, including Ace Group of Companies, but they are not in any manner concerned with the plight of home buyers of Amrapali Group of Companies, of which judicial cognisance was taken by this court and merely filing of IAs by other group of companies who are stranger to the cognisance taken by this court in reference to Amrapali Group of Companies, do not deserve any indulgence at least in the instant proceedings,” reports quoted bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela M. Trivedi as saying.
