Greater Noida Authority to Crack Down on Builders Providing Possession Without Registry

    In a bid to protect the interests of flat buyers who have invested their hard-earned money, the Greater Noida Authority is gearing up to take action against builders who hand over possession without completing the necessary registry process. The Authority, under the guidance of Ritu Maheshwari, CEO, recently conducted a project-wise survey in collaboration with Currie & Brown to identify such cases.

    According to Soumya Srivastava, OSD, Greater Noida Authority, the survey revealed that several builder projects in Greater Noida have residents living without a registry, as builders have failed to obtain occupancy certificates due to outstanding dues to the Authority. To rectify this situation, the Authority will issue notices to the builders of these projects.

    Srivastava emphasized that flat buyers cannot claim ownership rights until the flats are officially registered, regardless of whether they are already residing in them. The Authority expressed concern over builders providing unauthorized possession to buyers, and they are determined to take action against such practices.

    As part of the crackdown, Ritu Maheshwari instructed the builder department to cancel allotments for those builders who have not completed their projects and have not cleared their dues with the Authority. This action will result in the Authority taking possession of the vacant areas left by these builders.
