Faster, Greener, Closer: Delhi-Meerut RRTS Set to Redefine Regional Travel

    In a landmark development, the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is on the cusp of its grand opening, with the completion of the 17-km priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. The highly anticipated semi high-speed regional train, RapidX, is all set to revolutionize public transportation in the Delhi-NCR region, offering a comfortable and efficient mode of travel for millions of residents.

    According to reliable sources, all stations along the priority section, including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot, have been declared ready for operations. The auspicious inauguration is expected to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the near future.

    The cutting-edge RapidX RRTS train, capable of achieving speeds of 160 kmph, is a trailblazer in India’s transportation landscape. The project aims to bridge the gap between Delhi and Meerut, bringing several satellite locations in Uttar Pradesh closer to the national capital. With an estimated daily ridership of over 8 lakh passengers upon full completion, the RRTS will undoubtedly alleviate congestion and significantly enhance connectivity in the region.

    As the first phase gears up for launch, the second phase of the RRTS project has already been planned, and four additional stations will be introduced to further expand the network. The upcoming stations in the second phase include Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South, promising increased accessibility and convenience for commuters.

    Officials are optimistic about the project’s timeline, with the entire 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor anticipated to be fully operational by June 2025. The timely completion of the project is expected to have a transformative impact on regional transportation, reducing travel times, easing traffic congestion, and promoting sustainable mobility.
