The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has joined forces with the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) to crack down on developers who advertise properties without proper registration.

MahaRERA, the real estate regulatory authority in Maharashtra, has partnered with ASCI, the Advertising Standards Council of India, to identify developers who advertise projects without registering them with the regulatory body. This collaboration aims to protect homebuyers from investing in properties that may not be authorized for sale.

Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), MahaRERA and ASCI will detect advertisements lacking the MahaRERA registration number and QR code, which are mandatory for developers to market their projects. Ajoy Mehta, Chairman of MahaRERA, emphasized the importance of these measures in preventing misleading advertisements and ensuring transparency in real estate transactions.

Under the RERA Act, any project exceeding 500 square meters or containing more than 8 flats must be registered with MahaRERA. The partnership with ASCI signifies a proactive approach to monitor and address misleading advertisements across various media platforms.

By collaborating with ASCI and leveraging AI technology, MahaRERA aims to uphold consumer trust and confidence in registered housing projects, thereby safeguarding the interests of homebuyers. This initiative reflects MahaRERA’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.
