To expedite the registry process for flats in projects undergoing a recalculated dues clearance, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to establish special camps every Sunday in Noida. This initiative stems from a rehabilitation package recommended by a panel led by former Niti Aayog member Amitabh Kant.
Officials note that attendees failing to participate in Sunday camps can still execute registries during the week at the stamps and registry department’s office.
Approximately 40 projects in Noida and Greater Noida have agreed to the government’s deal, entailing a two-year zero-interest waiver during the Covid pandemic in exchange for an upfront payment of 25% of recalculated dues.
BS Verma, assistant inspector-general of stamps and registry in Noida, highlighted that this decision was made in consultation with Noida Authority officials, anticipating an uptick in flat registrations as developers opt into the government package.
However, the Noida Authority is concerned about the sluggish response from builders since the package’s launch. Only 13 out of 57 realtors eligible for the package have submitted consent letters to the Authority. The Authority has given builders until February 22 to confirm their stance on the package; failure to do so will result in full dues payment.
