MahaRERA, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority, has instructed developers to clearly state parking space details in sale agreements and allotment letters for homebuyers. This move aims to prevent future disputes and confusion regarding parking arrangements.
This decision came after numerous complaints from homebuyers, citing issues like obstructed parking due to building beams, inadequate space to maneuver vehicles, and difficulties in opening vehicle doors after parking.
To address these concerns, MahaRERA has mandated developers to include specific parking details in annexures to allotment letters and sale agreements. This includes information such as parking lot number, dimensions (length, height, and width), and the location of the parking slot provided to the homebuyer.
The regulator emphasized that strict adherence to these guidelines is necessary to avoid inconveniences and disputes related to parking. Homebuyers in Maharashtra can approach MahaRERA if they encounter any issues with the parking space promised by the developer.
In a notable case reported by Moneycontrol in September 2023, a homebuyer in Pune raised a complaint with MahaRERA after receiving a parking slot smaller than what was mentioned in the sale agreement. Following the complaint, MahaRERA instructed the developer to measure the parking space accurately and deliver the promised slot to the homebuyer within a month.
