The Haryana government has approved the long-awaited Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway, marking a major development for commuters in the National Capital Region (NCR), according to media reports published by The Economic Times on March 22.
The expressway, designed to improve connectivity between Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad, is part of a broader effort to enhance road infrastructure and ease congestion. While the Noida Authority first proposed the project nearly two decades ago, construction was only initiated by Uttar Pradesh, with Haryana delaying its participation until now.
A key component of the project includes a 600-meter bridge over the Yamuna River near Lalpur village. The cost of the bridge will be evenly split, with the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments each covering 50 percent of the costs involved. Authorities from both states have also developed a coordinated strategy to simplify cross-border travel.
With the approval of the FNG Expressway, necessary plans and maps have been sanctioned. Currently, there is no direct route linking Faridabad with Uttar Pradesh, which has been a significant issue. At present, travelers are forced to navigate through Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj due to the lack of a direct connection between Faridabad and Noida, a gap that the FNG Expressway aims to close. This new route is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a seamless travel experience for daily commuters.
During discussions related to the Haryana budget, Minister Vipul Goyal highlighted the importance of the expressway, citing the daily movement of more than 100,000 individuals between Faridabad and nearby regions for employment and personal needs. He also emphasized that the project would accelerate economic growth in the region by improving accessibility to commercial hubs and residential areas.
The FNG Expressway is expected to foster economic growth, reduce travel time, and improve accessibility for thousands of residents and businesses in the NCR region. The project aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance expressway infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity.
