Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar officially inaugurated an expansive 822-meter six-lane underpass at Vatika Chowk on Friday. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) jointly undertook this ambitious project at a cost of Rs 109.14 crore.

    Project Overview

This infrastructural marvel serves as a pivotal conduit, linking key arteries such as the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), Golf Course Extension Road, Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Gurugram-Faridabad Road, and Gurugram-Mehrauli Road. The collaborative efforts aim to alleviate traffic congestion on the Gurugram-Badshahpur road and the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.

    Traffic Easing and Connectivity Boost

The inauguration signals a significant step towards mitigating traffic bottlenecks at Vatika Chowk and Golf Course Extension Road. Chief Minister Khattar emphasized the underpass’s role in facilitating smoother traffic flow for vehicles bound for Faridabad via Dwarka Expressway, SPR, and Golf Course Extension Road.

    Impact on Commute Time

Beyond its structural significance, the underpass promises tangible benefits for commuters traveling between Badshahpur and Gurugram, anticipating notable time savings. The broader enhancements in connectivity are poised to elevate the overall commuting experience for local residents.

    Infrastructure Highlights

Encompassing 822 meters, inclusive of the approach road, the underpass features meticulously constructed three-lane sections on both sides to ensure an uninterrupted traffic flow. In a nod to safety and visibility, the incorporation of power connectivity ensures optimal conditions for nighttime travel.

    Community Advantages

Officials underscore that projects of this nature extend beyond mere traffic management. The underpass represents a boon for local residents, delivering not only reduced travel times but also an overarching improvement in accessibility and convenience.

In conclusion, the inauguration of the six-lane underpass at Vatika Chowk stands as a defining moment in Gurugram’s urban development narrative. As the city embraces heightened connectivity, diminished traffic congestion, and an improved commuting experience, this collaborative effort between GMDA and NHAI sets a precedent for efficient and accessible urban infrastructure.
