LUCKNOW, India – Two new interchanges will be built along the Yamuna Expressway to provide direct connectivity to the proposed Film City in Uttar Pradesh, located in Sector 21, approximately four kilometers from Noida International Airport.
As reported by News24, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated the tender process for the project, with construction set to begin once an agency is selected.
The planned interchanges, to be constructed on both sides of the expressway, will be approximately 480 meters in length and 11 meters in width. The project, estimated to cost ₹6 crore, aims to facilitate seamless access to the Film City, which is being developed on a 230-acre parcel as part of the first phase of construction. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the development of the International Film City, with approximately 1,000 acres of land earmarked for the initiative.
The new route is designed to accommodate vehicles transporting heavy goods and machinery to the Film City. Additionally, private vehicles and property allottees in Sectors 18 and 20 along the expressway will benefit from improved accessibility. The interchanges, to be built in Bhaipur village, will serve as dedicated entry and exit points to manage anticipated traffic volumes once the Film City becomes operational.
“Once the Film City is functional, these interchanges will witness heavy traffic, leading to significant congestion. Separate entry and exit points are necessary to address this demand. These interchanges will also benefit commuters traveling to the airport,” YEIDA Chief Executive Officer Arun Vir Singh said.
The proposed Film City is expected to drive significant economic growth in the region, particularly following the development of Noida International Airport near Jewar. The infrastructure improvements align with broader plans to enhance connectivity and promote investment in the Yamuna Expressway region, further positioning it as a hub for entertainment, logistics, and real estate development.
The first phase of the Film City project is being developed on 230 acres, with further expansion planned across a total of approximately 1,000 acres. The Film City is a key initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government to boost the entertainment industry and attract filmmakers and production houses to the region. The construction of the interchanges aims to support these developments by ensuring smooth traffic flow and reducing travel time for both commuters and commercial transport.
