Noida International Airport, currently under construction in Jewar, Greater Noida, is nearing a significant milestone with the landing of its first passenger-carrying aircraft scheduled for November 30.
This marks a major step as the airport progresses toward its planned full-scale commercial operations in April 2025, as published by the NEWS18.
Starting Nov. 15, the airport will initiate a month-long runway testing phase with empty aircraft from various airlines performing critical evaluations. The testing period, set to run through Dec. 15, will involve multiple aircraft landings on the newly constructed runway to ensure safety and compliance with aviation standards. The Noida International Airport Authority is securing final approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by Nov. 25 to facilitate these operations.
In addition to technical evaluations, a significant training session involving a variety of aircraft, including commercial airliners, will take place on Nov. 30. This session, involving industry stakeholders, aviation experts, and airline representatives, will test both simulated and real-life scenarios to ensure readiness for passenger operations.
“We are on track to start testing the runway and aircraft landing procedures from Nov. 15,” said the CEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in an interview with Local 18. “On Nov. 30, we will conduct a special training session, including both simulated and real-life scenarios.”
The airport anticipates a high-profile launch of commercial operations in April 2025, with an initial capacity of 30 flights on opening day, including 25 domestic, three international, and two cargo flights. This operation will establish Noida International Airport as a vital hub for domestic and international travel.
The first scheduled international flights will connect Noida with Dubai and Singapore. Partnerships with global airlines, including Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, have been finalized, with inaugural flights expected to take off on April 17, 2025.
To prepare for the April 2025 launch, ticket bookings are anticipated to open in January 2025, 90 days prior to the start of commercial operations. The airport’s management has confirmed that all necessary booking and ticketing systems will be operational by then.
Noida International Airport is projected to be one of India’s largest, with a transformative impact on the local economy. By providing enhanced connectivity, the airport is expected to create thousands of jobs, boost tourism, and contribute significantly to the regional economy, positioning Greater Noida as a key transportation hub for both domestic and international travelers.
